A Dogbone Cooling Channel
نویسنده
چکیده
Muon cooling schemes typically involve placing RF cavities in intense magnetic fields. Ongoing work has shown that this may reduce the maximum RF gradient by a significant factor. A linear cooling channel scheme is presented whereby RF cavities sit in much smaller fields. In addition, a scheme is studied for recirculating muons through this linear cooling channel in order to re-use hardware.

Solution-based direct readout surface enhanced Raman spectroscopic (SERS) detection of ultra-low levels of thiram with dogbone shaped gold nanoparticles.
We report the use of two different sizes of dogbone shaped gold nanoparticles as colloidal substrates for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) based detection of ultra-low levels of thiram, a dithiocarbamate fungicide. We demonstrate the ability to use a solution based, direct readout SERS method as a quantitative tool for the detection of ultra-low levels of thiram. The two different siz...
متن کاملStudy of flow and heat transfer characteristics in a periodic zigzag channel for cooling of polymer electrolyte fuel cells
In this study, a periodic zigzag channel with rectangular cross-section has been used in order to obtain a high-efficiency system for cooling a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. An appropriate function of fuel cells and enhancement of their lifetime require uniform temperature conditions of around 80°C. On the other hand, due to volume and weight constraints, a low-density compact heat exchanger i...
متن کاملParametric study of the influence of cooling channel dimensions on PEM fuel cell thermal performance
In a polymer membrane fuel cell more than half of the chemical energy of hydrogen is converted to heat during generation of electricity. This causes an increase in the cell temperature. The Cooling field design has a significant role in cell cooling. The cell's performance and stability are reduced due to inappropriate heat dissipation. In this paper, the cooling flow and heat transfer in cooli...
متن کاملEntropy Generation In an Unsteady MHD Channel Flow With Navier Slip and Asymmetric Convective Cooling
The combined effects of magnetic field, Navier slip and convective heating on the entropy generation in a flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid between two infinite horizontal parallel plates under a constant pressure gradient have been examined. Both the lower and upper plates of the channel are subjected to asymmetric convective heat exchange with the ambient fluid. T...
متن کاملDogbone Geometry for Recirculating Accelerators∗
Most scenarios for accelerating muons require recirculating acceleration. A racetrack shape for the accelerator requires particles with lower energy in early passes to traverse almost the same length of arc as particles with the highest energy. This extra arc length may lead to excess decays and excess cost. Changing the geometry to a “dogbone” shape, where there is a single linac and the beam ...
